As general manager of Four Seasons Resorts Lanai, Tom Roelens oversees all day-to-day operations at the Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay and the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, The Lodge at Koele. His management style focuses on great attention to detail, ensuring a staff that thrives on delivering a highly personalized experience to each guest.
Born and raised in Belgium, Roelens began his career in fine-dining restaurants in Belgium and France and started in the hotel industry at the SAS Royal Hotel Brussels, holding various roles in the food and beverage division. In 1996, he joined the InterContinental Dubai before succumbing to the allure of Asia and the idyllic isle of Bali, Indonesia. There, Roelens served as director of food and beverage and later as executive assistant manager of the Sultan of Brunei's Nusa Dua Beach Hotel and Spa.
In 2000, Roelens joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts at The Regent Jakarta, Indonesia. After floods inundated the city and the hotel, he played a major role in an extensive renovation program that transformed the hotel and the Four Seasons Residences into an ultra-modern setting.
In March 2003, Roelens moved to Southern California as hotel manager of Four Seasons Hotel Newport Beach, where he was responsible for the urban resort as well as the Pelican Hill Golf Club. In 2005, he left for the Maldives, where he helped open Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru and Kuda Huraa and was stationed as the general manager of Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa, as well as overseeing the Four Seasons Explorer, the resort’s luxury cruise catamaran.
Roelens currently lives in Lanai City and enjoys outrigger canoe paddling, running, scuba diving and travel. He is fluent in English, French, Dutch and Flemish.
