Bio for Kevin Buchanan

Kevin Buchanan is a 20-year hospitality industry veteran and has been employed by Williamsburg, Virginia-based Newport Hospitality Group (NHG) since 2002. Buchanan has served as general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Providence Airport/Warwick since the hotel opened in 2005. Prior to his move to Rhode Island, he was general manager of the Holiday Inn Express in Braintree/Boston.

Buchanan has been honored as GM of the Year (2007) by NHG and was most recently honored as General Manager of the Year (2012) for Hilton Garden Inn. Buchanan and his team have received a number of awards and honors from Hilton Garden Inn including Problem Avoidance in 2008 and 2012 as well as being honored in 2012 with both the Hilton HHonors Loyalty award for the brand and the Pride Merit Award for being #2 out of 560 Hilton Garden Inns globally.

Buchanan serves in several consultative roles with Hilton Worldwide and Hilton Garden Inn including the Hilton Garden Inn General Manager’s Council since 2010 as well as the Flourish initiative, an innovation roadmap for the future of Hilton Garden Inn. He also has been an active board member of the Providence Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau for the last seven years sits on the board of directors for the state tourism department for the City of Warwick Rhode Island.
