Hotel Alfonso XIII is once again open in Seville following a US$25 million (€20 million) restoration.

Local architect Demopolis led the 10-month project. The hotel features Arabic-inspired arches, towers and renaissance-style windows.

The interiors, by HBA Design, include hand-painted Triana and Mensaque ceramic tiles, carved wood furnishings and marble floors.

Hotel Alfonso XIII has 151 guestrooms and suites. The rooms feature Moorish, Castilian or Andalusian designs. The three signature suites are individually designed. The Reales Alcázares Suite has a darker design palette and overlooks the Real Alcázar’s gardens and fountains. The Torreón Suite has a private terrace that extends into the hotel’s corner tower. The Royal Suite is decorated with antique pieces including the “Bargueño,” a Spanish Renaissance cabinet inlaid with mother-of-pearl; it was a gift to the hotel from the Aga Khan.

The hotel offers several dining options. Bodega Alfonso serves traditional tapas and regional wines. Taifas, the poolside restaurant and bar, serves Mediterranean-style food and cocktails. San Fernando specializes in Andalusian cuisine.

Hotel Alfonso XIII is the first of four Luxury Collection hotels that will undergo restoration in the next year; Hotel Maria Cristina in San Sebastian will debut in July while Prince de Galles in Paris and The Gritti Palace in Venice will both open early next year.

The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts are part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc.
