What’s Hot: Aspen’s Hotel Jerome reopens after restoration

Auberge Resorts will reopen Hotel Jerome in Aspen on Friday, just in time for the winter season.

The 93-room hotel, now called “Hotel Jerome, an Auberge Resort,” underwent four months of renovation and restoration. Todd-Avery Lenahan of TAL-Studio in Las Vegas served as interior designer for the project. Architecture firm Rowland + Broughton oversaw structural improvements; Sarah Broughton conducted more than 200 hours of historical research on the property, which first opened in 1889.

The guestrooms now have multi-stepped moldings, new lighting, and historically inspired furnishings. Guestroom artwork includes both archival pieces reproduced from Aspen Historical Society collections and contemporary work commissioned for the hotel by regional artists.

The hotel’s lobby and atrium has been returned to its original layout, though it is now referred to as the living room. The space includes heritage pieces like the front desk and the grand fireplace, as well as the original Indian rug-patterned encaustic tile floor, as well as masculine furniture contemporary to the Jerome.

Prospect, the restaurant, now has multiple zones, including banquettes, high-visibility tables, and window-side seating with mountain views. The décor includes chestnut- and cream-colored hardwood floors and hand-stitched leather chairs. Executive Chef Rob Zack will offer contemporary cuisine in the restaurant as well as in the Living Room and J-Bar.

The J-Bar kept its Chippendale chinoiserie bar and has rugged leather furniture.

The Auberge Spa will have clean lines and contemporary fixtures; the spa includes three treatment rooms.
