What’s Hot: Hotel La Jolla shows off new look

The Hotel La Jolla, a Kimpton Hotel, reopened in August following a US$4 million renovation.

The San Diego hotel’s new public spaces focus on light and space. Guest accommodations, landscaping and a new restaurant all have a contemporary look.

All 110 guestrooms offer a patio or balcony. Four apartment-style suites have 900 sq ft (84 sq m) of living space.

The new lobby has comfortable, contemporary furnishings. Hiatus, a venue on the ground floor, has more than 2,000 sq ft (186 sq m) of outdoor lounge space, including fire pits and a new outdoor bar. The pool deck has also been redesigned. Landscaping throughout the property pairs sculptural elements like metal leaves and fire bowls with tropical vegetation.

On the restaurant’s 11th floor, Executive Chef Donald Lockhart presides over the reinvented Cusp Dining & Drinks. Adjacent to the new restaurant, a 950-sq-ft (88-sq-m) event space offers views of the ocean and La Jolla’s cliffs.

Hotel La Jolla also has a new fitness center and a new business center.

Westport Capital Partners and Cove Equity Group LLC own Hotel La Jolla, which was designed by Gulla Jonsdottir and Claude-Anthony Marengo.
