Travelodge introduces new guestroom design

Travelodge is benefiting from a £223 million (US$350 million) capital investment this year, the brand announced, part of which will go toward a new guestroom design.

The highlight of the new guestroom is a new luxury king-size bed with an 800 pocket sprung mattress, and each spring is designed to follow the natural contour of an individual’s body. The bed also features a quilted mattress topper and bounce back duvet, a swoosh stripes runner to help create a giftwrap feel and two truckle beds within its base to replace the traditional sofa bed.

The new guestroom design also promises a sleep-inducing color palette with a blue feature wall and other walls painted cream. Swoosh stripes in red, gray and blue also have been incorporated into the décor in addition to artwork above the bed featuring sparkles and shades of blue. Other additions to the new room include a white, contemporary en suite bathroom with a power shower, stain- and water-resistant carpet in dark blue, a larger desk area, new reading lights and a phone-charging socket built into the bed frame.

Travelodge plans to open 14 hotels in 2013, and all new hotels will incorporate the new guestroom design. By autumn 2014, more than 80% of Travelodge’s portfolio is expected to feature the new design.
