Six Senses announces new CEO, chairman, 5 new-builds

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas announced on Monday the appointment of Neil Jacobs as CEO and Wolf Hengst as executive chairman, as well as five new-build hotels it will open by 2016.

Jacobs joined Six Senses last month after serving as president of Starwood Capital Group’s SH Group for the past five years. Starwood Capital announced last week that it had appointed C. Scott Rohm to replace Jacobs.

For 14 years, Neil was with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Toronto, most recently serving as senior vice president operations – Asia Pacific, since 2003 in its Singapore office.

Looking ahead, Six Senses is set to focus on South America for expansion. “Our focus is South America right now but the U.S. is also on our mind,” Jacobs told Bloomberg. “Pegasus’s ability to attract capital and their ability to co-invest is going to help us drive growth.”

Six Senses said Bernhard Bohnenberger, president of Six Senses, will continue in that role reporting directly to Jacobs. Anna Bjurstam also joins the executive team as vice president of spa and wellness for the brand

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, Bangkok, announced that it will open these properties over the next three years:

  • Six Senses Freedom Bay, located in St. Lucia
  • Six Senses De Coson, located in Dominican Republic
  • Six Senses and Evason Arrecifes, located in Colombia
  • Six Senses 5 Sites, located in Bhutan
  • Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain, located in China

Six Senses has been a subsidiary of Pegasus Capital Advisors, Cos Cob, Connecticut, since April.
