Hilton announces 3 DoubleTrees in UK

Hilton Worldwide announced on Thursday the signing of three franchise agreements for its DoubleTree by Hilton brand in three U.K. cities.

The DoubleTree brand will see it open five new hotels in 2013, reaching a total of 25 hotels in operation across the U.K. since it debuted there in 2008 with the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Cambridge.

The three hotels signed Thursday include the 139-room DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre, the brand’s first hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland. In a franchise agreement with West Register Hotels, the former Point Hotel will convert to the DoubleTree by Hilton brand this summer following a period of refurbishment, operated by BDL Management.

The 201-room DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol City Centre, the former Jarvis hotel located in Bristol, England, is set to open this spring.

The 106-room DoubleTree by Hilton Nottingham Gateway, the former The Nottingham Gateway Hotel, located in Nottingham, England, will open in late 2013 after a refurbishment under a franchise agreement signed with Exceptional Hotels & Resorts Ltd.

“Following an outstanding year for British tourism in 2012, we are delighted to be at the forefront of expanding our brand in this market with new properties in three key cities,” said John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton.
