Holiday Inn Express reportedly to enter Australia

IHG has reportedly signed a deal with Sunfire Asset to open its first Holiday Inn Express-branded hotel in Australia.

The Australian reported that IHG, Denham, England, signed an agreement with Sunfire Asset, Mount Pleasant, Australia, to operate a A$35 million (US$36 million) 20-story, 224-room Holiday Inn Express in downtown Perth at 257 Adelaide Terrace. The hotel is set to open in 2015. Sunfire Asset will retain ownership of the hotel, which will be inside a converted Victorian-era heritage building dating from 1888.

IHG did not respond to HOTELS’ request to confirm the deal.
