Hot Openings: W enters mainland China

W Hotels Worldwide has opened W Guangzhou, its first W property in mainland China and its 44th globally.

The hotel is located in Guangzhou’s Pear River New Town District. The exterior, designed by architect Rocco Yim, features sleek black glass. WETDesign created the 62-ft (19-m) “Luminous Water Wall” installation at the entrance.

The hotel’s 317 guestrooms and suites, designed by the agency Yabu Pushelberg, offer motion sensors, the W bed, a Munchie Box of amenities, LED HD-TVs, and surround sound.

W Guangzhou has two nightlife venues and three restaurants. Woobar features distinctive furnishings, molecular cocktails and DJs, while Fei Ultralounge has a pulsating light installation that is visible from both inside and outside the hotel. I by Inagiku serves Japanese fare with indoor and outdoor dining as well as a sake bar and teppanyaki counter. The Kitchen Table serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at oversized tables with an open kitchen. Yan Yu, a collaboration with Chef Jereme Leung, serves Cantonese specialties and offers both a chef’s table and seven private dining rooms.

The property also has a24-hour Away Spa, a fitness center, a heated indoor pool, a 24-hour business center, and more than 21,500 sq ft (2,000 sq m) of meeting and event space.
