What’s Hot: The Algonquin goes literary with new suite

The Algonquin Hotel, an Autograph Collection hotel in New York City, has teamed up with publishing house Simon & Schuster on a new suite and author events.

The Simon & Schuster Suite is located on the hotel’s seventh floor. It includes a living room and private bedroom. The suite is decorated with book memorabilia and includes a bookcase with a permanent collection of both classics and modern bestsellers. At turndown on the first night of their stay, guests will receive an advanced copy of a forthcoming book from one of Simon & Schuster’s imprints. Guests staying in the suite will also receive a complimentary breakfast.

A series of speaker events will kick off with Chuck Klosterman, author and the New York Times Magazine’s “Ethicist,” launching his new book, “I Wear the Black Hat: Grappling with Villains” on July 8.

“Since we re-opened a year ago [following a full renovation], we have been careful to create programs and partnerships that stay true to our rich literary roots and help make them relevant for today’s guests,” says Gary Budge, general manager, in a statement. “Creating this suite and partnership with Simon & Schuster is not only ‘on brand’ for us, but brings our guests a wonderful experience to enhance their time spent here.”
