InterContinental flag for London new-build

IHG, Denham, England, announced that London is set for a third InterContinental Hotels & Resorts-branded property.

The new-build, 454-room The InterContinental London The O2, under development by Balfour Beatty, is part of the £121 million (US$185 million) Greenwich Peninsula project which will also include The Peninsula Tower, a 23-storey building offering 100 serviced apartments and landscaping works that will offer VIP access to London’s O2 Arena. The hotel will reportedly include Europe’s largest pillar-free ballroom at 4,800 sq m (51,666 sq ft). The project is being funded by Queensgate Investment Fund.

The hotel will be built to the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. Work will begin this summer and is due for completion in the summer of 2015.

The hotel will be managed by Arora Hotels, Hounslow, England.
