Eco-conscious hotel car rental trend continues

The “greening” of hotel fleets and rental car options is becoming a hot trend worldwide.

The Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel in Spain has made a deal with Mercedes-Benz to offer the Smart Ushuaïa Limited Edition for guests to explore the island. The car is available to guest for 40 euros per day, plus 15 euros/day for insurance.

In Miami, Florida, the b2 miami downtown has partnered with car2go to offer its hotel guests the benefits of the car sharing program. Beginning in August, car2go waived the registration fee for b2 miami downtown guests who signed up for the program prior to, or during their visit. They will also enjoy the first 30 minutes of driving time complimentary.

This partnership eliminates the need for hotel guests to rent a car and provides access to any of the nearby available Smart cars. Guests have the option of locating a car2go on the spot, or booking one 30 minutes in advance, by using the car2go mobile app. As an added bonus for groups who wish to reserve multiple cars, car2go can arrange for a number of vehicles to be reserved in advance and parked across from b2 miami downtown.

Last week, HOTELS reported about MGM Resorts International’s announcement that it converted six of its transportation vehicles to burning compressed natural gas.
