What’s Hot: Hotel Indigo to open brand’s first resort hotel

InterContinental Hotels Group’s Hotel Indigo brand will open its first resort hotel this fall, in China’s Yunnan Province.

Hotel Indigo Lijiang Ancient Town will be the first high-end boutique property located within the 800-year-old enclave, which was a trading hub on the Tea-Horse Trail linking Yunnan and Tibet.

The 70-key hotel is styled as a modern post house along that trail, with a design that includes ethnic motifs from Tibet and the local Naxi people.

Superior Rooms draw inspiration from the nearby Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, while Deluxe rooms have an equestrian theme, with lighting fixtures and clothes racks in the shape of horse shoes. Super Deluxe Rooms are themed around horse bells from the trade caravans. Each room in the Presidential Suite is inspired by a gift that would be carried along the trail.

The property also includes a “Me Space” relaxation zone, Chama Restaurant, the Chat tea lounge, wellness facilities, and meeting space.
