The Plaza pays homage to Eloise

In collaboration with artist Hilary Knight, The Plaza in New York City is bringing its fictitious 6-year-old hotel guest Eloise back to life with a series of newly designed limited-edition prints and commemorative art pieces of Kay Thompson’s iconic character.

The collaboration launches with a birthday tea celebration and book signing on November 4, hosted by Knight in The Palm Court just under the famed Eloise portrait that she painted over 50 years ago. Children will receive a gift bag at the conclusion of the event. The hotel is charging US$100 for the tea for two.

The Plaza and Hilary Knight also will introduce a holiday-themed limited-edition print of Eloise, the first in a six-part series, which will include prints themed around Valentine’s Day, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Fans who purchase all six prints will receive a custom 7th-birthday-themed print signed by Knight with a special custom inscription. Each series will include 100 prints, available for US$250 each.

The Plaza and Hilary Knight will be releasing additional themed print series in 2014 and 2015. These will feature Eloise at her mischievous best in well-known settings from her series of adventures as a world traveler in favorite destinations from New York to Moscow as well as a series featuring Eloise in her favorite locales at The Plaza, the place she calls home.
