What’s Hot: St. Regis New York reveals new look, expanded bar

The St. Regis New York is finishing a renovation project that includes redesigned guestrooms, suites, hallways and public spaces, as well as the King Cole Bar’s return as the King Cole Bar & Salon.

Design firm HDC drew inspiration from a philosophy that “timeless is modern” for the interiors, which blend original design elements such as Waterford crystal chandeliers and crown moldings with contemporary touches such as large-format photography, vibrant colors and beveled mirrors.

The newly expanded King Cole Bar & Salon marks the debut of a culinary partnership between the hotel and the New York-based chef John DeLucie. The new restaurant offers modern American fare with international influences; the menu includes small plates, DeLucie’s specialties and some reimagined classics from the property’s early days.

In the lobby, the renovation project opened up oval windows above the front desk, which were part of the hotel’s original design. Guestroom floors have black lacquered doors, textured fabric walls and five color palettes in the entryway on each floor. Updated guestrooms include marble-tiled entryways and leather details; every bathroom in the hotel will have a new, spa-like atmosphere after renovations and refurbishments. The suites and guestrooms feature New York City photography by Janet Arsdale and Hampton Hall.

The hotel’s Imperial Suite will have European Chinoiserie and East Asian furnishings complemented by reds, crystal and gold leaf accents, with a new, open floor plan adding a more residential feel. The Presidential Suite, meanwhile, has been redesigned as a “collector’s suite” with treasures from international travel.
