Hot Openings: Ritz-Carlton opens in Tianjin, China

The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin opened in October in a former British concession.

The architecture is inspired by the early 20th-century neo-classical style, with hotel rooms arranged around a courtyard.

Designer Pierre-Yves Rochon is behind the Art Deco look in the 277 guestrooms and 53 suites. Many of the rooms have buttressed stone balconies overlooking downtown Tianjin. Interiors feature chandeliers, high ceilings, and marble finishes. Some walls have hand-painted murals depicting traditional European scenes as well as Chinese imperial paintings.

The Ritz-Carlton Club, a residential concept, features an open kitchen serving food and beverage throughout the day with English afternoon tea, a private dining room, a lounge and a bar. Guests at The Ritz-Carlton Club Level have access to private check-in and a dedicated concierge.

In addition to the Club, The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin boasts four restaurants. The lobby lounge offers cocktails and afternoon tea, while Zest serves international cuisine from open kitchens all day. Tian Tai Xuan has a contemporary Cantonese menu. The Flair bar and lounge includes private wine and cigar rooms with a menu of cocktails, sushi and snacks inspired by South Asia.

The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin also offers a spa with a collection of treatments inspired by Tianjin’s China rose and a 11,300-sq-ft (1,050-sq-m) grand ballroom.
