Crow Holdings acquires Brown Palace

Trammell Crow affiliate Crow Holdings Capital Partners, Dallas, has acquired for an undisclosed amount the grand dame hotel of Denver, the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa, as well as the adjacent Comfort Inn Downtown Denver.

Dallas-based Quorum Hotel and Resorts, which has managed the property the past 26 years, will continue to do so, according to the Denver Post. The hotel will continue to affiliate with Marriott’s Autograph Collection as well.

Quorum is part of the Brown Palace Joint Ventures investment group that put the hotel up for sale in September, and this marks the fourth time the property has changed hands since it was built in 1892.

Crow Holdings has invested in 33 hotels worth about US$2.5 billion since 1998, according to a company statement, and current holdings include the 1,606-room Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas and the 316-room Windsor Court hotel in New Orleans.

The Brown Palace is in the middle of refurbishments, which have included upgrades to the spa, ballroom and suites. The façade undergoing a three-year restoration.
