Hot Openings: Modus enters Baltimore market

Modus Hotels entered the U.S. city of Baltimore earlier this year as the Washington, D.C.-based owner and operator of lifestyle hotels reopened Brookshire Suites Baltimore.

Seattle-based Dawson Design Associates reimagined the space to combine art statements with hard edges and more timeless elements.

The 97 studio and one-bedroom suites offer large desks, mini fridges, and bay windows overlooking the city’s Inner Harbor. Warm grey textured walls serve as a backdrop to colorful, urban-inspired art.

The lobby is designed to encourage guests to linger, with modular sofas, a communal table, a selection of board games and local music on select nights. The space also features takes on street art commissioned by Baltimore Love Project Founder Michael Owen as well as black and white photography of musicians born in Baltimore. The lobby’s Red Bar serves local brands, including Zeke’s Coffee, Heavy Seas Brewery and Knob Hall Winery.

Brookshire Suites Baltimore also offers guests almost 2,000 sq ft (185 sq m) of event space and access to MV Fitness, a local fitness studio in a converted Victorian home.
