Waldorf Astoria new-build for Beverly Hills

At a time when luxury hotel developments in the U.S. remain scarce, Hilton Worldwide announced on Friday that it signed an agreement with Alagem Capital Group and clients of Guggenheim Partners to open the 170-room Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills in 2017.

The luxury hotel will be the brand’s first new-build on the West Coast. The 9-acre (3.6 hectare) property will also include 570-room The Beverly Hilton and Waldorf Astoria Residences in the future.

Gensler and PYR, joined by their parent company Perkins+Will, co-designed the exterior of Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills while Pierre-Yves Rochon of Paris and Chicago is handling the hotels interior designs which include upholstered furniture, custom Strass crystal chandeliers, lacquered sycamore millwork, Lalique installations as well as a curated art program featured throughout hotel. Guestrooms will feature floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto private balconies and the hotel will house approximately 6,300 sq ft (585 sq m) of indoor meeting and special events space.

“The arrival of our Waldorf Astoria brand to Beverly Hills is one of the most highly anticipated developments in our portfolio,” said John Vanderslice, global head, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Worldwide.
