What’s Hot: Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona adds rooms, suites

Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona has added 17 suites and five more guestrooms, bringing the total to 120 guest accommodations.

The new rooms are located in a modernist building next to the hotel on the city’s Passeig de Gràcia, and they are accessible from the main building. The new rooms and suites range from 474 sq ft (44 sq m) to 1,335 sq ft (124 sq m).

Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona brought back Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola, who worked on the original hotel, to give the new rooms the same cosmopolitan style as the rest of the property.

The suites have textile screens to make the space flexible; junior and premier suites can be reconfigured from two to three bedrooms. The suites have elevated ceilings, natural light, Tai-ping carpets, bespoke furniture, and bronze highlights to mirror the warm oak flooring. The spa-inspired bathrooms have walk-in showers.

Superior suites have private terraces or balconies and a modular configuration that provides work areas, dressing rooms, and living spaces. The flagship Barcelona suite includes a large terrace with an outdoor whirlpool and solarium.
