Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa in Sausalito, California, has finished renovations to its 11room Mansion and meeting space.

Built in 1885 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Mansion was originally the private residence of William Barrett, secretary-treasurer for the San Francisco Gas and Electric Co., the Mansion and its new offerings have been updated by the design teams of Taal Safdie and Ricardo Rabines of Safdie Rabines Architects, Christopher O’Connor Design and TruexCullins Interiors.

The Mansion’s Alexandrite Suite includes 3,500 sq ft (325 sq m) of indoor space, 1,500 sq ft (139 sq m) of outdoor living space, a personal fitness center and private office. The open kitchen, dining room and master bedroom all include fold-away, floorto-ceiling glass doors connecting the space to a two-tiered patio. The kitchen features Blue Jean granite countertops, a topof-theline range and convection oven. The dining room table seats 10 and is set against a backdrop of panoramic bay views. The patio features an outdoor bar, barbecue area and ample seating.

Nine additional guestrooms are available on the second and third floors of the Mansion. Separately keyed, the rooms feature king beds, hardwood floors, bay and city views and historic Victorian touches including original crown molding, a grand historic staircase, ceiling accents, window casings and fireplace surrounds.

Named after Benjamin Franklin’s diverse cooperative for mutual improvement, the new Junto Event Space offers a multifunctional boardroom with views of the bay and advanced technology such as a nine-panel media wall with multi-point video conferencing capabilities.

Along the upper hillside near the Mansion are seven cottages that have been redesigned with new interiors featuring king beds, hardwood floors and some with full kitchens and bay and city views.

“With a nod to the bayside location, the spaces are well-appointed and stylish, yet inviting and comfortable, featuring some of world’s most advanced technology systems,” said Gary Gutierrez, president of MetWest Terra Hospitality, which operates the property. “Together, these elements not only change the landscape in luxury accommodations on the West Coast, but provide an inspiring travel experience unlike any other.”
