Marco Polo launches new luxury brand

Marco Polo Hotels announced on Monday a new luxury brand, its first new brand since its 1986 inception, that will appeal to “experiential travelers.”

The new brand Niccolo by Marco Polo is set to launch in China with its first hotel set to open in early 2015 within the newly opened International Finance Square (IFS) Chengdu in China’s Sichuan province. A further three Niccolo hotels are set to open in Chongqing, Changsha and Suzhou.

“Late last year, Marco Polo Hotels announced our expansion plans across Asia Pacific. The launch of Niccolo by Marco Polo in Chengdu is an integral part of this growth strategy and evidence of our belief in the continued potential of business and leisure travel across the region. The current 12 months mark a significant milestone for our company,” Stephen Ng, deputy chairman and managing director of The Wharf Holdings, the parent company of Marco Polo Hotels.

Marco Polo Hotels, Hong Kong, said the “contemporary urban chic” brand’s offerings will include concierge service City Insiders that will impart “insider” tips. The brand will partner with high fashion retailers to offer exclusive deals to guests. Beyond couture, the Niccolo Lecture Series will introduce guests to “pioneering explorers” of the current generation with stories focused on adventure.
