Hot Opening: Hyatt Place makes South American debut

While South America has been a hot region for the last few years, it’s only now that we are starting to see the ribbons being cut on some of the international giants’ new product offerings. The Hyatt Place Santiago/Vitacura is the flag’s first hotel in Chile and marks the launch of Hyatt Place on the continent.

The 160-key upscale property features Hyatt Place signature amenities and design elements in all the guestrooms, including its 20 suites. The design team wanted to find creative branding elements, so they commissioned Chilean artist Catalina Meta to create a copper art piece for a focal wall that uses over 2,000 individual versions of the letters in “Hyatt Place” to make a map of the world.

The hotel, which is located close to the city’s three main business districts, also offers five meetings rooms and a fitness facility. The 24/7 Gallery Menu and market offers all day dining and a grab-and-go.

“Hyatt’s history in Chile spans more than 20 years, beginning when Grand Hyatt Santiago welcomed its first guests,” said Myles McGourty, senior vice president of operations, Latin America & Caribbean for Hyatt. “Hyatt Place Santiago/Vitacura brings one of the newest brands in Hyatt’s portfolio to Chile, and we look forward to sharing its unique approach to service with a new segment of travelers looking for approachable style and design. It is an exciting time to be growing in Chile.”
