NYC boutique hotel offers free breakfast

The Marlton, the recently opened 107-room boutique hotel in New York City has introduced a complimentary breakfast menu.

The hotel’s restaurant, Margaux, offers guests a menu including house-made pastries and jam, Greek yogurt with seasonal fruit and granola and coffee from Ferndell.

“The main reason we did this was to create a sense of community at the hotel,” said Richard Born, co-owner of BD Hotels, the management company behind The Marlton. “Whereas a typical hotel breakfast [is priced at] about US$20 to US$30, our actual cost turns out to be a small fraction of this, and since [breakfast] is [offered to guests for] free we have found that 85% of our guests stay for breakfast. The breakfast room has now become a warm and attractive place for our guests to linger and chat. The entire hotel experience is enhanced.”
