What’s Hot: Napa Valley resort debuts refresh

Creating a new look for a property is always a challenge when that property already has a strong aesthetic and reputation. Finding a way to keep the signature look intact while giving the space a contemporary feel means treading a fine line when it comes to deciding what stays and what goes.

That was the challenge facing the design team at AMB when they were brought in to renovate the 330-key Napa Valley landmark Silverado Resort and Spa. The multi-year renovation saw updates to all the guestrooms and the public spaces as well as The Grill restaurant (the hotel’s other restaurant is still undergoing renovations and will reopen next month). Each of the four so-called neighborhoods features a unique take on blending the look of the historic mansion with the needs of today’s guests. A light palette emphasizes the airiness of the spaces. Accents like wood paneling keep the historical feel.

The renovation continues outside, with much of the resort’s 1,200-acre (486-hectare) outdoor space getting upgrades. These include new cabanas at the main pool as well as a facelift for the hotel’s iconic golf course.
