What’s Hot: DC hotel debuts renovated suites

Local inspiration. Residential feel. Those two phrases sum up some of today’s hottest hospitality design trends. Guests want to feel like their hotel experience is a home away from home, but one firmly located in the city they’re in, and they expect that no matter the star rating of the hotel. For HVS Design and Jonathan Nehmer & Associates, making that happen was the guiding mandate behind the renovation of 32 of the deluxe suites at the Embassy Suites at the Chevy Chase Pavilion in Washington, D.C.

Part of the US$10.5 milllion renovation of the property (due for completion in October), the redesigned suites’ homey style starts with a framework of natural textures and a relaxing color palette of neutrals spiced with burnt-orange chairs and pillows in the living spaces and glowing bronze-toned curtains in both the living space and the bedroom of these two-room suites. The team wanted to use the material choice to add a subtle polish. Wall-to-wall wood flooring and dark wood doors add a visual richness. The art and accessories in the space feature images of local landmarks.

“We have created a relaxing atmosphere where guests practically feel at home with numerous added perks,” says Jeff Brainard, area general manager. “Our updated guest suites offer visitors an enhanced domestic setting with a host of staying options.”
