Hot Openings: Delano debuts Las Vegas hotel

Design statements in Las Vegas usually steer toward ultra-flashy casinos or edgy statement pieces, but for the Delano Las Vegas, the design team of Joyen Vakil, senior vice president of design and development for MGM Resorts International, and Verena Haller, senior vice president of design for Morgans Hotel Group, opted for a more polished take.

The 1,117-suite property’s guestrooms are defined by a minimalist white palette.  Quilted walls behind the beds use texture to add flair. Gray and black tones in the furniture and accents help add an urban note to the look. The penthouse suite also uses wood and metallic shades for a richer effect. The hotel’s public spaces pick up on that warmth with honeyed wood tones in the arrival area lending a warm glow and wood paneling in the Franklin Lounge accenting that space.

The property also features three dining venues: 3940 Coffee & Tea, Della’s Kitchen and Mix at Delano. The Franklin Lounge and the Mix Lounge at Delano offer spaces for a chic drink. The hotel also includes the Bathhouse Spa.
