It might be a long way from L.A., but Cape Town’s 11-key The Marly has a high-impact cool that would be just as much at home in California as in South Africa. Soda Creations’ vision for the property centers on a white-based palette accented with dramatic colors, pieces and prints to create a look that blends the effortless quality you’d expect from a beachside property with the glitz of an urban destination.
The reception area sets the tone for that blending of design flavors. Wall details and vividly printed chairs draw the eye.
The same flair continues into the guestrooms. While mostly white, touches like arched mirrors and black and white artwork add a bold style statement.
For the restaurants — Umi Japanese Restaurant, Zenzero Restaurant and Paranga Restaurant — the team wanted to infuse a unique flavor into each. Zenzero’s ceiling has a bold black-and-white accent. The look in Umi is much more delicate, with intricate textures and patterns.
