Marriott asks Millennials to vote on next-gen guestrooms

Marriott Hotels in the United Kingdom is calling for public votes through October 20 on ideas for guestrooms of the future submitted by five thought leaders representing various “tribes” of Millennials such as “the financial foodies” (food lovers ditching high-powered jobs for food-industry careers) and “the fashionista mumpreneurs” (fashion-forward, self-employed, social-media-savvy parents).

The thought leaders include television host Katie Piper and rugby star Danny Care, and their room designs include features such as an interactive Instagram wall and mind-controlled projectors.

Visitors to Marriott’s Travel Brilliantly website can view the designs and vote on the best elements, and one winning concept will be built as a show room at Westfield London from October 27 to November 2. The show room will not be replicated at Marriott Hotels, but the brand said it will be used to inspire future design.
