Best Western to expand in Malaysia: Best Western International announced the signing of a management contract with Sabanilam Enterprise Sdn Bhd for a new 330-room Best Western Plus hotel and conference facility at the ITCC Penampang complex in Kota Kinabalu, the capital of Malaysia’s Sabah state, which is expected to open in 2016.

Marcus to assume management of Florida hotel: Marcus Hotels & Resorts announced it has entered into an agreement to assume management of The Hotel Zamora and Castile Restaurant in St. Pete Beach, Florida, effective November 1. The company has also acquired a 10% minority interest in the hotel and restaurant, which is owned by Zamora Hospitality Group of Tampa, Florida.

Wyndham announces first hotel in Ethiopia: Wyndham Hotel Group announced the signing of a management agreement for the company’s first property in Ethiopia, the 136-room Ramada Addis, expected to open in the first half of next year.

 


Plans underway for second hotel on Biltmore Estate: Biltmore has started planning for a second hotel at Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, with construction slated to begin by mid-October. Plans for the new Village Hotel call for 209 guestrooms, and the opening is planned for November 2015.
