2014 Social Hotel Awards: Best brand digital video campaign

Hilton Worldwide’s DoubleTree by Hilton brand won HOTELS’ 2014 Social Hotel Award for Best Digital Video Campaign, Brand.

For the third straight year, HOTELS is honoring the best of social media in the hotel industry with the Social Hotel Awards. The awards are presented in seven categories ranging from Best Facebook Page to Best Digital Video Campaign, and for each category, both a brand and a property are honored. In 2014, HOTELS received more than 250 global entries for the awards, which were chosen by a panel of social media experts and the staff editors of HOTELS.

DoubleTree worked with Google to create DTour, a YouTube channel feature integrating all its major social media accounts to facilitate sharing content, and launched “DTour of a Lifetime,” a contest to find six “DTourists” to travel globally as content creators and share highlights via blogs, videos and social media.

When people checked in on Foursquare, tips and links to the DTour hub were provided for things to do near their current location. The brand drove content submissions to the hub map through social ad buys, a U.K. travel blogger mixer, a live Google Hangout with Google Travel and partnering with a travel TV host.

During the DTour launch, DoubleTree reservations increased 3.9% year-on-year, resulting in a room revenue increase of 7.6%. The brand added 22,000 new Facebook fans, a 10% increase, and 11,000 new Twitter followers, a 24% increase.
