What’s Hot: Azerbaijan hotel’s art-driven dining venue

Art and the beach might seem like a slightly unusual pairing, but those two inspirations melded perfectly for Henry Chebaane and the team at Blue Sky Hospitality. Tasked with putting a fresh spin on all-day dining at the JW Marriott Absheron Baku in Azerbaijan, they knew they’d have to think outside the box.

They turned to the vibrant mood of iconic beaches like South Beach and Bondi Beach for the streamlined shapes and bold colors of Zest, located in the hotel. The arty side of the space announces itself in the giant “Vitamin Spritz” installation in the ceiling. Punctuating the area are 101 globes and 2,500 rods in three colors that form starburst shapes.

Chebaane also wanted to bring the playful side of the beach inside. Multitudes of rubber ducks float inside a pool. Planters are made to resemble brightly painted trash cans. Citrus tones add to the fresh vibe.
