Accor expands in Scotland: Accor will open two hotels in Edinburgh and one hotel in Glasgow, bringing the group’s Scotland portfolio up to 21.
Disney to open Toy Story hotel: Disney will open a Toy Story-themed hotel in Shanghai in December 2015.
Hyatt’s Auckland plans: Hyatt Hotel Corp. will open a Park Hyatt hotel in Auckland, New Zealand. This will be the first Park Hyatt-branded hotel in Auckland.
Reef Casino delayed: Aquis Group has put its AU$8.2 billion (US$7 billion) Reef Casino development on hold after a “related casino takeover fell through.” The Cairns, Austrailia-property is billed to be the world’s largest hotel.
Meliá to open second U.S. hotel: Meliá Hotels International will open and manage Meliá Costa Hollywood Beach Resort in Florida. The condominium-hotel property will be Meliá’s second in the United States and will open in 2015.
Steigenberger grows in China: The Steigenberger Hotel Group signed its seventh hotel in China. The Steigenberger Hotel Changchun will open in 2016.
Dalian Wanda expands luxury business: The Dalian Wanda group plans to build more than 150 premium hotels by 2018. The targeted markets for the new hotels are Europe, the United States and Australia.
Meritus to debut in Bali: Meritus Hotels & Resorts will operate its first resort in Bali, Indonesia. Set to open in 2016, Meritus Bali Seminyak Resort & Spa will include 181 guestrooms, a fitness center and an infinity-edge swimming pool.
