The 134-key Tideline Ocean Resort & Spa has opened. For the renovation of the former The Omphoy Ocean Resort, the design mandate was to retain the quirky spirit of the hotel, while bringing in a clean, modern look.
A shift in perspective provided the impetus for the slightly offbeat nature of the design. Instead of relying on outsize focal points or vivid colors, the design team based each space around a strong vertical element. Slender columns in the lobby evoke trees and draw guests’ eyes through the space. The same motif is reflected in the lines of the bed frame in the guestrooms. Rich tones like amber help define the property’s indulgent but fanciful vibe.
