What’s Hot: Seychelles resort rejuvenated

Any hotel that undergoes a makeover—especially if it’s a restoration—runs the risk of being either too different or not different enough. Have the design fall too far one way and guests just aren’t impressed. Too far the other and the hotel’s DNA runs the risk of getting lost in the shuffle. For the Oetker Collection’s Fregate Private Island Resort, that challenge was magnified by a strict sustainability mandate.

The designers went for a timeless resort style, with pale fabrics and bold accents.  Energy-efficient lighting keeps the eco-friendly part of the brief going. The lengthy project also included a facelift to the Yacht Club, Anse Bamboo Beach Bar and the Pirate Bar. The hotel’s marina received new equipment.

But, this wasn’t just a facelift with a few eco-friendly touches. The hotel also uses energy-efficient power generators. A wastewater system turns wastewater into 95% clean water.
