What’s Hot: London Marriott to unveil redux

Handsome design is having a moment right now. The vibe of the elegant English gentleman’s study has become one of the hot looks for hotels. Rich textures and muted colors have become favorite tools for designers looking for a an aesthetic that says “luxury” in a way that’s contemporary but inviting.

That British cool also forms the heart of RPW Design’s work for the London Marriott Hotel Park Lane. For the 152-key property’s renovation (scheduled for completion in June 2015), managing director Jan Wilson and her team wanted to play up the bones of the building as well as its location. “Our designs aim to bring out the English heritage of the Francis Verity designed historic building extending its intimate feel and residential character into the hotel’s interior,” said Wilson. “Elegantly designed rooms and public spaces will have all the facilities expected in a leading luxury hotel.”

Marble, silk and leather form an opulent materials palette. Brtish artwork keeps the local accent. Colors like gray and lavender add a layer of refinement.
