Marriott launches F&B lab Canvas

Marriott International has announced the launch of Canvas, a global concept incubator for food and beverage entrepreneurs. Marriott is inviting chefs, bartenders and artisans to pitch a food or drink concept for a select group of Marriott hotels including the JW Marriott Shenzhen in China and Renaissance Phoenix Downtown.

Local restaurateurs, hotel owners and expert will ultimately determine the ideas that demonstrate the most creative, savvy and sound business plans. Final concepts will receive a kick-start from Marriott. After six months of operations, the finalists will be evaluated based of popularity and return on investment.

“We believe the key ingredient of Canvas is to marry the best ideas of local entrepreneurs with Marriott’s resources, space and capital that will transform ambition into action right inside our hotels,” said Wolfgang Lindlbauer, global F&B leader at Marriott. “Just like travel, food and drink experiences today are about indulgence and discovery for modern travelers and local clientele alike, to savor, enjoy and share.”
