AC Hotel New Orleans Bourbon/French Quarter Area marks the brand’s entry to the U.S. market. Housed in the 1871-vintage cotton exchange building (which is listed as a National Historic Landmark), the 220-key property puts an American twist on the urban European vibe that Madrid-based AC has been known for.
A neutral palette remains the mainstay of the design in both the public space and the guestrooms. And, in keeping with the spirit of New Orleans, the accent pieces are a mix of the old and the new. Industrial-looking metal and glass in the ceiling over the bar adds a modern spin to the space. The stone bar front adds a reflective element. Wood paneling in the lounge maintains a more traditional feeling, as does the glossy wood used in the guestrooms for furniture and headboards.
The brand is set to open over 50 hotels in the U.S. and Latin America over the next three years. A Miami Beach property will open in April.
