Omni to debut in Kentucky

A deal to build the first Omni Hotel in Kentucky has been finalized. The Louisville hotel is expected to be 30 stories tall, making it the third-tallest building in the city. In addition to 600 guestrooms, the US$289 million complex will include 225 luxury apartments, a grocery store, two restaurants, a spa and fitness center.

As part of the deal, Omni Resorts & Hotels agreed to purchase interest in the property that had been held by The Cordish Cos. It was originally announced in March 2014 that Omni would partner with Cordish for a new hotel, but it was later decided that Omni will be the sole developer of the project.

The project is a public-private partnership with Omni paying 52% of the development costs (US$150 million) and the city and state paying 48% (US$139 million). The hotel is expected to open in 2018.
