Hot Openings: Madrid hotel celebrates contemporary style

The old catchphrase about less being more has been proven, disproven and debated across all sectors of the hospitality industry. When it comes to design, everything from Baroque opulence to stripped-down minimalism has a place. What’s still true, though, is that making streamlined design interesting takes a careful eye for what doesn’t need taking away.

The team behind Iberostar’s first Madrid hotel, the 103-key Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía, knew they wanted than clean, modern look. So, to give the restored 1917 building both effortlessness and character, they realized that a few well-chosen design details would be key to making an impression. A different color on each of the hotel’s six floors defines the spaces. A literary theme provided inspiration for quotes scattered throughout the hotel. The delicacy of single pendant lights layers in detail without being overwhelming.

The hotel also offers a grand library and two dining venues: Al Trapo restaurant and The Bocablo Lounge. Meeting and event spaces round out its amenities.
