Hotel Indigo launches local F&B philosophy and contest

IHG’s Hotel Indigo has launched a new food and beverage philosophy to bring locally inspired dishes and drinks into its properties. The program was piloted at Hotel Indigo Kensington and will be implemented in every new hotel starting at Hotel Indigo Helsinki this spring.

“Restaurants and bars are the heart and soul of any good neighborhood,” said Simon Burdess, IHG’s vice president of food and beverage, Europe. “If you are a hit with your locals, your guests will feel that they have got the inside line on the neighborhood.”

To promote the new Hotel Indigo F&B philosophy, IHG is launching The Flavors of the Neighborhood, a search for the best food vendor, producer or artisan. The search is open until February 15 and applicants can enter by uploading information about their products with an image and caption to the Hotel Indigo Facebook page. The winning entry will win £1,000 (US$1,164) in addition to a food photo shoot to be featured in the Hotel Indigo local foodie guide.

Entries will be judged by farmer and television presenter Jimmy Doherty, editor of Waitrose Magazine and broadcaster William Sitwell, and food blogger and chef Kerstin Rodgers. The winner will be announced on March 17.
