Expedia buys Travelocity: Expedia Inc. has agreed to buy Travelocity from Sabre Corp. for US$280 million. Expedia and Travelocity have been working together since 2013, when they entered into a long-term agreement with Expedia handling most of Travelocity’s operations.

InterContinental Tampa acquired: Arden Group has acquired the InterContinental Hotel Tampa Westshore for an undisclosed amount. Arden plans to invest US$7 million in the hotel to renovate guestrooms, public space and restaurant.

South Korea tourism: South Korea’s government has called for the prompt spending of nearly US$16 billion dollars previously earmarked for the development of four projects to attract more than US$7 billion dollars in new investments for the construction of hotels, resorts and theme parks.

New World Petaling Jaya: New World Hotels & Resorts has been appointed by WCT Holdings Berhad to manage New World Petaling Jaya Hotel outside Kuala Lumpur. The hotel will open in 2016.

Bulldog Hotel Group to expand: Commer Group has taken a 20% stake in Bulldog Hotel Group. The independent hotel operator has planned to double its size of the business after gaining the investment.
