Hot Openings: Australian hotel showcases event center

Forget about conference spaces being design afterthoughts. These days, every space is part of the style narrative. That’s not made any easier by hi-tech needs in meeting rooms. So, when the team behind the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley Conference and Events Centre in Australia started into their design process, they knew they didn’t have a blank slate.

Clean, streamlined pieces provide the backbone for design that fits within the functionality of the spaces. Balancing rounded and squared shapes helps vary the look. Neutral tones with deep, not bright, accents in the accessories are quietly chic.

“The new Conference and Events Centre will position the Hunter Valley as a leading Australian conference and events destination,” said Robert Coates, the hotel’s general manager. “Offering guests the latest technology and a light-filled design in a state-of-the-art venue with a combined 21,528 square feet (2,000 square meters) of pre-function, meeting and exhibition space coupled with a unique wine country destination. We have already received large scale group bookings for 2015 resulting in 20 percent growth in business events and many in the pipeline for 2016 – it looks set to be a very busy year for us.”
