Abu Dhabi may buy Mayfair hotels

The Guardian reports that the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority has written to the board of Coroin indicating that it wants to buy the Mayfair’s Claridge’s, the Berkeley and the Connaught for £1.6 billion (US$2.46 billion). The hotels are currently owned by the Barclay brothers.

Long-standing minority shareholder Paddy McKillen has also suggested that he wants to buy out others shareholders and own the business in its entirety.

Last December, Al Habtoor reportedly ended talks with Barclays about acquiring the Mayfair hotels.
