W Hotels coming to Bellevue: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide announced an agreement with Kemper Development Company and Associates to open W Bellevue in Washington. W Bellevue will open in 2017 and join W Seattle as the brand’s second hotel in the Puget Sound area.

Sheraton Agoura Hills sold: Khanna Enterprises purchased the Sheraton Hotel in Agoura Hills, California. The company will retain the Sheraton flag and manage the property.

 


Dusit Thani launches in Krabi: Dusit International and MBK Hotel and Resort have announced the development of Dusit Thani Krabi Beach Resort in Thailand. Dusit will rebrand the property July 1.

La Quinta announces secondary offering: La Quinta Holdings announced that  certain selling stockholders affiliated with The Blackstone Group have commenced a secondary offering of 17.5 million shares of La Quinta common stock. The underwriters will have a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 2.625 million shares of common stock from the selling stockholders.

Baha Mar hit with more delays: The Baha Mar Resort will only open one of four of its hotels, Baha Mar Casino & Hotel, March 27. In January, the resort announced it would open all of its hotels by March 27, but has since experienced several delays. The US$3.5 billion project is reportedly the most expensive development in the Bahamas’ history.

MGM Resorts’ proxy battle: MGM Resorts says its current board of directors is effective and unanimously rejected Land and Buildings push to have four board nominees of its own. Land & Buildings said it will press ahead to elect its nominees.

Amazon’s new hotel business: Skift reports Amazon Local recently updated its iOS and Android apps and began on-boarding a “handful” of independent hotels offering their rooms at published rates.
