Hot Openings: Art hotel celebrates dramatic style

It’s a given for today’s artsy hospitality locales that “art” needs to take center stage. Spaces need to be designed so that lighting, color palette and traffic flow all combine to showcase it, whether it’s on a wall or a multimedia work in the middle of the room.

However, for projects like Ohio’s Le Méridien Columbus, The Joseph, that doesn’t mean taking the impact out of the interior design. The team from Arquitectonica used high-contrast yellows and purples in the lobby furniture to balance glossy black pieces. Guestrooms are anchored by a wooden headboard that wraps onto the ceiling.
