What’s Hot: Luxury Collection debuts first Florida property

After focusing more heavily on Europe in the last few years, The Luxury Collection is targeting North America. Sunset Key Cottages off Key West is the brand’s first Florida outpost.

“This marks a milestone year for The Luxury Collection in North America, as the brand continues to debut marquee conversion hotels and invest in landmark renovations,” said Anthony Ingham, vice president, brand management, The Luxury Collection, St. Regis, Le Meridien and W Hotels Worldwide, North America. “We are delighted to debut Sunset Key Cottages as a Luxury Collection resort in a destination designed for the new generation of luxury travelers.”

Styling the property meant keeping the relaxed vibe resorts are known for. The 40-key resort adds a hint of urban sophistication with sparkling chandeliers and artwork in the public spaces. Elegant neutrals in the cottage keep that global chic.

Projects like this go to show an important trend in resort design — while the Zen cool needs to stay, guests are also looking for an increasingly cosmopolitan vibe. Designers will need to be able to deliver that if they want to attract today’s travelers.
