Hot Openings: Chicago hotel celebrates local style

For many people, it’s the architecture that defines the Windy City. From skyscrapers to the early- and mid-20th-century structures that grace the area, the look starts on the outside.

The 400-room Loews Chicago Hotel is no exception. Architecture firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz created an exterior that melds effortlessly with the surroundings, using materials from stone to glass to marry the diverse styles of the city’s buildings.

Interior designer Simeone Deary Design Group followed that lead. Designers used the materials palette to bring the locale front and center while respecting the lines of the architecture. Brick and concrete pay tribute to the architecture, while mohair and leather evoke local denizens’ favorite wintry clothes.

“We are proud to have partnered with some of Chicago’s finest developers, contractors and designers to create what we feel is the best hotel and team, in the best location in the city,” said General Manager Christian Hansen. “Not only are we in the center of the action of our booming Chicago neighborhood, the style and design of the hotel is uniquely local to the city of Chicago’s rich history.”
