Mövenpick to debut in Dubai Media City: Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts will open its first property in Dubai Media City in 2017. The 251-key Mövenpick Hotel Dubai Media City will stand adjacent to the AED 4.5 billion (US$1.23 billion) “innovation hub” announced by the Dubai Government in 2014.

Tsogo Sun announces Cape Town hotel complex: Tsogo Sun reached agreement with the owners of the site of the recently demolished Tulip Hotel for the construction of a new 500-room hotel complex in Cape Town. The new hotel will consist of a 200-bedroom SunSquare Hotel and a 300-bedroom new generation StayEasy Hotel for a total investment of R680 million (US$56.7 million).

IHG announces Rewards Club enhancements: IHG Rewards Club will introduce  new membership level to reward members with more relevant and personalized benefits. The new level will be available in July.

Holiday Inn to open in Galesburg: Janko Group and Janko Hospitality have announced the development of a new Holiday Inn & Suites in Galesburg, Illinois. The hotel is scheduled to open later this year and include 81 guestrooms and suites, meeting space, an indoor pool and spa.

Hotel Development Partners acquires Marriott-branded portfolio: Hotel Development Partners aquired seven select-service Marriott hotels in Georgia: Fairfield Inn & Suites Alpharetta, Fairfield Inn & Suites Buckhead, Fairfield Inn & Suites Perimeter Center, SpringHill Suites Alpharetta, TownePlace Alpharetta, TownePlace Suites Kennesaw and the Fairfield Inn & Suites Macon.

 


Marriott expands in Alabama: The former Alagasco headquarters building in Birmingham, Alabama, will be developed into a 120-room Marriott hotel. The project will cost US$18 million.
